"Please be aware that Manmohan Singh was a convenient choice for Sonia Gandhi and the Congress party. Manmohan Singh does not have a constituency which will elect him to an Elective Office. He essentially is the casualty of Coalition Politics which mandates accommodation to other parties who support the Government. Congress did not enjoy the majority to form the government without the support of other regional parties. Telecom scandal was caused by the minister from the regional party from Tamil Nadu. (Raja). But Congress ministers are not any less corrupt. These ministers looted money from Commonwealth Games which were in millions. People have started associating Congress with corruption notwihstanding the fact that Manmohan Singh is not corrupt.
Manmohan Singh may not have any popular support to be an MP but he is still the Prime Minister and; is accountable for the policies of Govt. But unfortunately he does not have a say in the day to day affairs or broad policies followed by the government. Due to opposition by Mamta Bannergi (W. Bengal) to any progressive legislation, the government is at a complete gridlock. Hence the economic progress is at complete standstill."

My uncle emailed me his reaction to the TIme Magazine cover article on Manmohan Singh (India’s Prime Minister).
Think of an Indian version of the absentminded genius professor/lawyer who forgets that his glasses are on his head. That’s my uncle.
And he’s my hero.
